It all began…

… in the winter of 1990/1991 …
That’s when Hermann Oberschneider’s dream of his own ski school finally became reality. After his professional racing career, the state-certified ski instructor worked as a ski instructor trainer and demonstrator for the Interski Team Austria. He also coached top athletes such as Olympic champion and multiple world champion Benni Raich. Still, getting a license for a ski school wasn’t easy. But Hermann Oberschneider never gave up. In the winter of 1990/1991, the moment finally arrived: together with five team members, he opened the “Ski and Race School Oberschneider Kaprun”. He was strongly supported by friends and by his siblings Andrea, Monika, and Franz.

Warm hospitality, snow-how, and pure fun on the slopes

Word quickly spread that a visit to the Oberschneider Ski School was well worth it. Year after year, the number of guests, instructors, and services continued to grow. In 2001, a whole new era began: the opening of Ski Dome I right in the center of Kaprun. Ski school, snowboard lessons, ski rental, ski service, an Intersport shop, and lift passes – everything you need, fast and conveniently under one roof. The same year also saw the launch of Ski Dome II on the Kitzsteinhorn Glacier. Since then, ski and snowboard fans have been able to enjoy the full Ski Dome experience not only in Kaprun village, but also directly on the Kitzsteinhorn.

A ski school like no other …

One area that is especially close to Hermann Oberschneider’s heart is children and families. To inspire families with a passion for winter sports and support the next generation, he has taken completely new approaches. Specially trained kids’ ski instructors, playful learning, and lots of fun: at BOBO’s Kinderland even the youngest guests discover the world of skiing and snowboarding with excitement and joy. Hermann Oberschneider’s three daughters also learned to ski with Penguin BOBO – and with great success. The three Oberschneider girls have already achieved impressive results on the slopes.
