Ski touring rules on the Kitzsteinhorn
- Always obey warning signs, closures and local regulations
- Between 5 PM and 8 AM, local ordinances prohibit skiing and walking on skiing routes
- Always obey closures due to high avalanche risk as well as avalanche blasting
- Safety equipment: avalanche search & rescue transponders, shovel, probe
- Helmets are recommended
- Only ascend a mountain at the edge of a piste
- Exercise special caution when cresting a hill, in tight passages, on steep slopes, when encountering icing and when crossing pistes
- Only cross the piste at points where there is good visibility, also maintaining an adequate distance from one another
- Never take a dog with you on the piste
- 10 FIS rules also apply to ski tourers
- Climbs and descents are at your own risk and subject to your own responsibility
- IMPORTANT: Marked ski touring routes follow the edge of pistes. Beyond the edge of the piste, you will find yourself in open terrain
- and thus outside of the area maintained by the lift company.
